Abstract
- The article discusses the state of mapping in remote areas around the world. According to the author, many areas of the world have been geodetically surveyed and topographically mapped using traditional techniques, but major European powers have modified their techniques, such as aerial photography and radio time service. He believes that orbital imagery is far superior in geometric fidelity than existing paper maps or digital data derived from digitized paper maps.
