Abstract

The article examines the history and development of garment hooks (daigou) that were used by nobility in ancient China. Particular focus is given to how the hooks, dating back to 3300 BCE, have been found in provinces throughout China including Daluchencun, Xuchang and Henan. The construction of the hooks, which often include iron inlaid with gold and silver, is also examined.
