Abstract

The article informs about the closing of Prison in New York which marks the end of an infusion of state capital constructed as a project of economic development. It informs that there are 60 prisons in New York State of which 15 are "supermax" all-solitary confinement prisons. It states that as the number of people incarcerated in New York's prisons are reduced so nine prisons have been closed but there has been increase in the use of solitary confinement in New York.
