Abstract
- The article describes several cases of human parvovirus 4 (PARV4) in young children with unknown parenteral blood exposure in Ashanti, Ghana. A number of plasma samples were collected over a January-December 2004 period. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to analyze all the samples. According to the study, 32 of 361 children tested positive for the PARV4 genotype 3 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It also detected PARV4 viremia status in 78 children aged 24 months.
