Abstract

The article reports that China is imposing harsher restrictions on foreign companies operating in China, and examines the effects of the government's discrimination against international business. It discusses how after years of operating with a relatively open policy towards foreign business, the Chinese government is imposing stricter restrictions and more bureaucratic regulations on the companies. Other topics discussed include why luxury brands like Prada are not as strongly affected by restrictions as companies in other industries, why the Chinese government is promoting local brands over foreign ones, and reactions to the stricter regulation from the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham).
