Abstract

Chapter 8 of the book "American Literary Scholarship," is presented. It focuses on essays featuring two American poets, Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot. Haoming Liu explores Pound's use of ideogram, Sarah Davison and Robert Stack on the lyrical quality with a hint of troubadour influence on Pound's poetry. David Chinitz's assessment of Eliot's personality and his role in literary modernism and Steve Ellis's guide to understanding and interpreting Ellis's poems are also discussed.
