A CALL FOR VIGILANCE ON THE EBOOK FRONT.

This article presents the author's opinion about the need for increasingly aggressive advocacy efforts in public libraries over the management of licensing and acquiring electronic book (ebook) collections. Topics include the alleged monopoly that library ebook vendor Overdrive has created in the content market, the shift in U.S. public policy resulting from the content divide and the attitudes of book publishers, and the significance of the First Sale Doctrine U.S. copyright law on ebook lending practices.
