Abstract

The article evaluates the appointment and telephone methods of following women who have been treated because of exposure to gonorrhea at the Boston City Hospital in Massachusetts. About 60 percent of 70 the women have returned for a second examination under the appointment method. With the telephone method, about 90.5 percent of the women have called for the results of their cultures and were given an appointment to return to the clinic. The authors stress that having the patients telephone for the results of their cultures seems to improve the efficiency of managing women who are treated.
