Abstract
- The author presents his comments and opinions on the relationship between banking, finance, and modern society. The case of Bruno Iksil, a French trader at the bank JP Morgan Chase, who was known for his risky trades, is discussed. Other topics include a salary survey of bankers on Wall Street (the financial district of New York City), the role of the British bank Barclays in the London Interbank Offered Rate (Libor) fraud scandal, and government bailouts of banks in financial difficulty.
