Abstract
- The article reports a study which was conducted to compare the vitamin A value of β-carotene in golden rice (GR) and in spinach with that of pure β -carotene in oil when consumed by children. The study revealed that the beta-carotene in GR is as effective as pure beta-carotene in oil and better than that in spinach at providing vitamin A to children. GR may be as useful as a source of preformed vitamin A from vitamin A capsules, eggs, or milk.
