Abstract

For a better understanding of the nature of the holistic innovation function, we studied a regional newspaper's redesign and development. Our research question can be formulated as follows: How is the innovation function executed in a regional newspaper? The study applies a case study approach. The data was primarily collected by interviews with the aim of building up a picture of the phenomenon in a single case. We introduce the dynamic innovation framework we used to analyse the case. The findings suggest that the concept of dynamic innovation is appropriate to describe the holistic innovation function. In practice, there are both massive innovation projects and agile "easy" innovations that are executed in different ways. The major challenges in corporate level innovations are technological diversity and project management in matrix project organizations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
