"1+1=3" JOINING FORCES.

The article reminisces on the two-part exhibition "1 + 1 = 3," which was organized by Gallery 1199 in New York and the Muse Community Museum in Brooklyn, New York for "Where We At" in 1986. Organizers African American artists Charles Abramson and Senga Nengudi claimed that the show was an erotic equation. The main feature of the project was the pictures of the five pairs of African American artists photographed by African American photographer and artist Coreen Simpson.
