Abstract

The article discusses the management of employee compensation and benefits with the aim of job satisfaction in libraries and information centres in Nigeria, with information on their designation as humanitarian services. Topics include the disparity in compensation between faculty lecturers at universities in Nigeria and the practicing academic librarians, the various forms of benefits offered to and desired by librarians outside their salary, and the relationship between compensation, benefits, and job satisfaction.
