Abstract

The article presents a study which examined the habitat use and spatial distribution of the common buzzards (Buteo buteo) in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany in the autumn of 2000. The aim of the study is to evaluate the buzzards' territoriality and its effects for their use of space. The methods used in the study are multivariate Poison regression analysis and randomization tests. The study showed that territorial sedentary breeding pairs displaced nonbreeders and wintering birds into suboptimal habitats.
