Abstract

The article presents information about an analysis done by India's Annamalai University of the 2005-2009 issues of the "Indian Journal of Chemistry." It states that researchers determined the number of contributed articles, the geographic distribution of the articles, and the number of citations per article, then used biometrics to make conclusions about the data. It reports that bibliometric analysis, as applied to the Library and Information Science field, is useful in identifying research trends since librarians can use results to plan their collection development, especially when budgets are tight.
