Abstract

The article offers the author's insights regarding the article of Pearce and Huang which examines the value of research to management education by differentiating useful and less useful research on management. The author states that research was regarded by Pearce and Huang as useful if it is actionable. He mentions that the aggregation problem and disaggregation fallacy help explain why the criterion of Pearce and Huang for actionable research can produce a narrow band of actionable responses. He notes that the conclusions of Pearce and Huang are undermined by the conceptual problem of aggregation and disaggregation across levels of analysis, and technical problem of interpreting correctly research implications.
