Abstract
- Azaphospholes are five-membered 6Π aromatic phosphorus heterocycles having a σ<superscript>2</superscript>,λ<superscript>3</superscript>-phosphorus atom and a σ<superscript>3</superscript>,λ<superscript>3</superscript>-nitrogen atom as the members of the ring. In this chapter the syntheses, structural determination, reactions including electrophilic substitutions, 1,2-additions and Diels-Alder reactions on >C = P– or –N = P– functionality of azaphospholes anellated to five- and six-membered nitrogen heterocycles have been reviewed.
