With the advances in VLSI technology, enhanced optimization techniques are required to enable the design of faster electronic circuits that consume less power and occupy a smaller area. In the VLSI design cycle, significant optimization opportunities exist in the logic design stage. In recent times, several research works have been proposed in the area of logic synthesis, which can prove to be very valuable for VLSI/CAD engineers. A solid understanding and sound implementation of these advanced techniques would enable higher levels of optimization, and thus enable better electronic design.
