Abstract

Presents information on a study that demonstrated that an active-wire Β ø is an effective tool for reducing the initial perturbations that feed the growth of the resistive hose instability during the propagation of intense, relativistic electron beams in air. Design issues associated with the cell; Discussion on the conversion of radius tailoring to emittance tailoring; Explanation on matching the beam from the cell into the air; Conclusions.
