Abstract

The article discusses a study on the prevalence of Panton-Valentine Leukocidin (PVL) and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-associated breast cancer and mastitis among post-partum women in Chennai, South India. The study isolates 20 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and were screed for susceptibility to various antibiotics including cefoxitin, clindamycin, and fusidic acid. It reveals an increasing number of cases of PVL-MRSA infections among post-partum women.
