Abstract

In this article, the authors discuss the challenges associated with the federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research in the U.S. According to authors embryonic stem cell science has not directly produced any major advances in clinical medicine. They believe that though much will be learned through the study of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) but it has produced no new therapeutics that have passed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review. They also believe that democratic disagreements cannot be reduced to technical questions and delegated to scientific experts.
