Abstract

Focuses on the irradiation of a hollow parylene cylinder-type target with a long pulse carbon dioxide laser to produce a confined soft x-ray laser source. Amplification of the Balmer-alpha line of the H-like carbon; Effect of the reabsorption of the Lyman-alpha line on the Balmer-alpha transition; Characteristic curve for the conversion of the optical density to the photon density.
