Abstract

Experiments on the rate of human information transmission show that the relation ship between performance and demand, depends upon time history of demand; beyond overload, performance does not recover at the expected rate as demand is reduced. The resulting ‘ hysteresis ’ effect increases after moderate doses of alcohol. Some implications of these results in real-life situations are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
