ISBD(S) Revised Edition and AACR2 1988 Revision.

In 1988, a revision of AACR2 and a revised edition of ISBD(S) were published. The first part of this paper briefly discusses the origins of these two standards and their relationship. The remainder of the paper is a detailed, though not exhaustive, comparison of AACR2 (Rev.) and ISBD(S) (Rev.). It concentrates on inconsistencies between the two texts and evaluates their compatibility. It concludes that there is a high degree of compatibility on major points but that relatively little progress has been made since the original editions in reducing the substantial number of minor differences.
