Abstract
- The article focuses on the works of Italian etcher Stefano Della Bella, which depict death and his series of "capricci." It says that Della Bella focuses on the theme of death in his career through etchings of funeral processions, ornamental designs and battle scenes which reflect the fascination of Baroque artist to the macabre. Furthermore, Della Bella challenged his fate by submitting the skeletal personification of his etching needle and by using his etching techniques to gain immortality.
