Abstract

The article offers information on a park created by Russian government to protect endangered Siberian tigers and leopards. It states the park "Land of the Leopard" National park is spread to 1,011 square miles of tiger and leopard habitat in Russia's Far East. The park protects newly designated land along the Chinese border as well as includes the pre-existing preserves of Kedrovya Pad, the Borisovkoe Plateau Wildlife Refuge and the Barsovy Federal Wildlife Refuge. The wildlife conservation society has welcomed this move and said that this would pave way for big cat conservation. It states that Russian government would invest 16.6 million dollars to develop this park which would include protect areas for wildlife, an economic development zone and ecotourism recreational zone.
