Abstract

The article presents a study which explores the opinions of key members of Irish equine industries, government bodies, and organisations on how to improve equine welfare and unregulated gatherings in Ireland. The study uses three qualitative research methods including focus groups, semistructured interviews, and workshop. The study reveals that equine welfare could be improved by a Code of Practice for horse gatherings, humane horse disposal, and comprehensive identification system.
