Abstract: The article offers information on a final rule issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) related to the adoption of a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Airbus Model A300 series airplanes to install three secondary retention plates for the gimbal bearings on the trimmable horizontal stabilizer actuator (THSA). This will support the secondary load path and prevent the loss of control of the airplane. The AD will be effective on June 7, 2012.
