Abstract

A biography of author, intellectual, and radical Thomas Paine is presented. It comments on his Quaker background, his friendship with statesman and inventor Benjamin Franklin, and his views on the American Revolution and the French Revolution. Several of his works are considered, including the books "Common Sense" and "The Age of Reason" and the "American Crisis" papers.
