Abstract

The article presents information on the herpes zoster vaccination in the people of age between 50 and 59 Years. It states that Herpes zoster caused by reactivation of latent varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in the dorsal root or cranial nerve ganglia manifests as unilateral acute pain accompanied by a vesicular rash. It also states that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Zostavax in 2006 to prevent shingles. Demonstration of the efficacy of Zostavax is also discussed.
