ROLE OF SELF-HELP-GROUPS AND MICRO CREDIT IN EMPOWERMENT OF RURAL WOMEN.

The article presents information on a study on Self Help Groups (SHGs) and micro credit in Chirawa Tehsil of Jhunujhunu District of Rajasthan, India that have been launched by the government for the empowerment of rural women. It is suggested that to make SHGs a success, women should be trained in soil conservation, social forestry and dairy development and entrepreneurial abilities should be developed in them. It also discusses the constraints faced by women in utilizing SHGs properly.
