Abstract

The article presents a study that determines the changes in soil cover on chernozemic soils in Canada. It analyzes the effect of perennial crops, reduced tillage, and continuous cropping on soil cover, and how they can sustain the quality of cover than annual crops, residue and harvesting. It outlines the result of the study, which shows that the widespread adoption of no-till and decline use of summerfallow can improve the quality and protect prairie agricultural soils.
