Abstract
- The article reports on research which was conducted to investigate the pharmacokinetics of intranasal crushed oxycontin and intravenous oxycodone in nondependent prescription opioid abusers. Researchers evaluated eight healthy volunteers. They found that the intranasal and intravenous methods of delivery of the drugs resulted in the drugs getting into the subjects' bloodstreams faster than if they had been administered in tablet form and that all drug doses were well tolerated by subjects.
