The patient's treatment regimen include intravenous vancomycin and veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). A persistent Staphylococcus epidermidis pulmonary infection was seen in the patient. It notes the continued deterioration of the patient's condition and subsequently died in spite of therapy and complete bacteria eradication.
