Abstract

The article discusses aspects of manpower planning in industrial management. Manpower planning incorporates a specification of the types and numbers of men an organization will need to accomplish its profit, growth, and service objectives. One approach in manpower planning is the utilization of stochastic models. Experts say adequate manpower planning models cannot rely on mathematical methods alone. Another manpower planning technique discussed is the replacement table method. This approach was instituted during World War II. The flexible hierarchy model is detailed.
