- The author offers tips to 2012 South By Southwest (SXSW) festival attendees in Austin, Texas on how to avoid getting infected with flu virus. He notes that the festival conditions and activities are conducive to the spread of virus, including recycled air, hand-shaking and cheek-kissing. Some of the health tips include not touching stuff in the hotel room, eating immune-boosting foods such as onions and garlic, avoiding sweet foods and drinking lots of water.
