Redistribution reactions between a mixture of Si MeCl and Si MeBr show an exchange of halogen atoms at room temperature. After 10 hours at 60 °C the equilibrium state is attained and all possible compounds Si MeClBr are formed, but not in a statistical distribution. Possible reasons for this distribution and general rules for the exchange of substituents on disilanes are postulated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
