Abstract

A paper chromatography method for qualitative analysis of the carbohydrates (in 85% ethanol soluble fraction) of Taraxacum Koksaghyz is described. Different parts of the plant have been analyzed. In the fresh roots the following carbohydrates were found: levulose, saccharose, probably raffinose, levulines and four other spots of low R values - all of them ketose compounds. Roots dryed during a period of 48 hours at 55° C before analysis have the same chromatogram. In the fresh leaves only levulose, glucose and saccharose appeared. In the dry leaves besides these carbohydrates three more spots of low R values were found: all of them ketose compounds. Before, during and after the flowering period, the floral stems contained levulose, glucose and saccharose. The buds contain levulose, glucose, saccharose and four other non-identified carbohydrates, all of them ketose compounds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
