Abstract

The article reports on the legume Pongamiapinnata which produces seeds containing 30 to 40 percent of oil. The legume comes from India and Australia and is becoming a popular oilseed choice for biofuel production. It also caught the attention of U.S. growers, including farm land broker Tom Schenk who has been involved in the establishment of test groves in Texas.
