- The article reports on the effort in North Carolina to reboot the state's pork industry as of 2011. It states that worn-out and vacant sow farms are being replaced or remodeled with finishing facilities that match the environmental footprint of a site. Division of Water Quality (DWQ) engineer Christine Lawson comments on a bill passed in 2007 regarding lagoon sprayfields construction for swine production systems and the Swine Waste Management System Performance Standards' guidelines.
