Abstract

The article looks at the efforts of the Library of Congress in archiving cultural artifacts and books online. The library started its online archive in 2000, when the U.S. Congress started the National Digital Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) to gather, keep, and have the digital content accessible for present and future generations. The result of the program was the Mapping the Internet Electronic Resources Virtual Archive, now known as The Library of Congress Web Archives.
