Abstract
- The article focuses on the evolutionary shift from classic brain development seen in chimpanzees and Neanderthals to the unique brain development seen in newborn humans, which could have allegedly improved modern man's intellectual capacity. Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology research showed that the human skull during the first year of life is round and ball-shaped. Certain regions expand eventually like the brain's parietal lobe, temporal lobes and cerebellum.
