Abstract
- The article reports on the development of a novel surface which triples growth of stem cells in culture by the Whitehead Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) scientists in 2011. It mentions that scientists of MIT and Whitehead have made a surface capable of tripling the amount of human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) and embryonic stem (ES) cells. It states that use of the novel surface also terminates the need for layers of feeder cells in mouse to iPS- and ES-cell growth.
