Abstract
- The article reports on quantitative measures that critically review how a company's policies affect return on investment and whether a policy has become obsolete, but should be continued despite any losses. Most operational policies were established to influence performance and achieve objectives. They were not developed with "price tags" to show the cost of implementation or performance payback. Examples of policies that have endured without reappraisal include a company that maintains its original policy of leadership in research and development and another that keeps its original policy of hiring from within.
