Abstract
- The article discusses labor relations and minimum guaranteed income in the United States, as well as wage advances, loans and savings plans. Many labor unions are demanding higher wages and supporting annual wages and guaranteed employment. A study by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that only a small percentage of workers are covered by labor agreements with guaranteed income or employment plans. Topics include the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, the Wisconsin Unemployment Compensation Act of 1932, denial of a guaranteed annual wage in the Basic Steel Companies case by the National War Labor Board, and examples of union activity in various industries.
