Abstract
- The article examines the role of state and public administrators as industrial managers in the United States. The typical characteristics of companies operated by government agencies are presented, including low output per dollar invested and high unit operating costs. European countries in which companies are controlled jointly by government units and private interests are discussed, such as the hydraulic energy and railroad industries in France. Details related to the public activities of French Chambers of Commerce are described.
