Abstract

The article discusses the data needed to surmise a judgment on whether relief expenditures should be reduced or continued on at least the existing level. There are many arguments for each side, however, the authors feel that sufficient data is yet to be compiled in order to make an educated guess on reemployment in the U.S. To start analyzing the data, they looks at the current unemployment volume in the country, and compare those figures with that of the size of the combined Works Program and general relief loads. Using this data and information of the type of worker on relief, they speculate the possibilities of reemployment.
