Abstract

The article discusses changes in the working capital position of leading industrial corporations in the United States during the business recession of the 1920s and 1930s. The financial status of the largest business units outside of public service and financial institutions is presented in chart form. The primary working capital items for leading industries are discussed, as well as the factors influencing the decline in industrial working capital. The effects of rising prices on working capital and profit margins are also examined.
