Metabolic syndrome is associated with change in subclinical arterial stiffness--A community-based Taichung Community Health Study.

The article focuses on a community-based Taichung Community Health study, which aims to assess the impact of metabolic syndrome on arterial stiffness in a longitudinal study. The study involved the measuring of brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) in 1518 community-dwelling persons at baseline. The background, methods, results, and conclusions of the study, are discussed.
