Abstract

The article discusses the role that the retailer plays in the price movement as well as steps that the retailer can take to reduce the costs of his share of the distribution process and decrease the loss he suffers during active price changes. The author points out that retailers cannot stop price fluctuations, but they can help by merchandising their products in the best way possible and operate their stores so as to minimize the inevitable initial losses. He then suggests a merchandising plan to account for business conditions, and calls for better statistical data from retailers.
